About Sundsvall Timrå Airport
Sundsvall Timrå Airport is the main regional airport serving Sundsvall, Timrå and the wider Västernorrland coast in northern Sweden. Formerly known as Sundsvall–Härnösand Airport and often called Midlanda, it was inaugurated in 1944 and has been owned by the municipalities of Sundsvall and Timrå since 2013.
The airport is located about 21 km north of central Sundsvall, roughly 8 km east of Timrå and about 32 km south of Härnösand. Its current passenger terminal opened in 1997 and covers approximately 6,500 square metres, handling scheduled domestic flights and seasonal international charter services.
Regular flights connect the airport with Stockholm Arlanda, while seasonal charter services link the region with holiday destinations such as the Canary Islands, Greece and Mallorca. This makes it an important gateway for both business and leisure travel in Västernorrland.
Passengers can reach Sundsvall by taxi, rental car or private transfer, as the airport bus service is no longer operating. The terminal provides a restaurant, café, tax-free shopping, Wi-Fi and parking, keeping the travel experience straightforward and convenient.
