Sultan Muhammad Salahuddin Airport, also known as Bima Airport, is the main air gateway to Bima and the island of Sumbawa in West Nusa Tenggara. Located in the Palibelo area of Bima Regency, the airport sits about 10 km south of central Bima and was previously known as Palibelo Airport before being renamed after the last Sultan of Bima. Its management passed from the regional government to the central government around 1969.
The airport mainly serves domestic flights connecting Bima with Lombok, Denpasar, Makassar and other Indonesian destinations. It is an important access point for leisure travelers, particularly surfers heading to the Lakey Peak area and divers traveling to Saleh Bay resorts or Komodo-bound liveaboards, as well as for business and regional travel across Sumbawa.
