Stornoway Airport is the main air gateway to the Isle of Lewis and the wider Outer Hebrides. Located about 2 miles (4 km) east of Stornoway town centre, it provides lifeline domestic connections for island residents and supports tourism, business and medical travel.
The airfield opened in 1937 and later served military aviation before returning to civil use. A modern terminal building opened in 2002, creating a compact single-terminal layout that handles check-in, security, baggage reclaim and passenger facilities in one place.
