South Caicos International Airport serves South Caicos, one of the smaller inhabited islands in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The airport has a single 6,000-foot (1,829 m) runway and one passenger terminal, with scheduled flights operated by interCaribbean and Caicos Express Airways from Providenciales and Grand Turk, plus a twice-weekly American Airlines route from Miami.
Located in the centre of the island, the airport is less than a five-minute drive, or about 2.4 km (1.5 miles), from the main settlement of Cockburn Harbour. It has also been named Norman B. Saunders Sr. International Airport after a former Chief Minister, although South Caicos International Airport remains the name most commonly used by travellers.
There is no public transportation or taxi stand at the airport. Visitors generally continue their journey by rental car, pre-arranged private transfer or complimentary transport provided by South Caicos resorts and villas.
Passenger facilities are limited but practical, with a small shop offering cold drinks and packaged snacks around flight times. Because South Caicos is served mainly by small twin-engine aircraft, baggage allowances can be restricted, making the airport best suited to light, island-focused travel.
