About Solenzara (BA 126) Air Base

Solenzara (BA 126) Air Base is a French Air and Space Force installation on Corsica's east coast, in the commune of Ventiseri. Known by the IATA code SOZ and ICAO code LFKS, it is sometimes listed as Solenzara Airport. The base does not operate scheduled commercial flights; its primary role is military training and operations, while private and business aviation can be handled by prior arrangement.

The airfield was developed as part of a NATO construction programme, with work beginning in 1956. The base became operational in 1960 and the first aircraft landed on 30 May 1960. Today it supports French and allied training rotations and is also referred to as BA 126 or Ventiseri-Solenzara. It has a single paved runway of approximately 2,600 metres.

The base is located about 9 km north of Solenzara and roughly 40 km north-northeast of Porto-Vecchio. It is reached by road, mainly via the T10 coastal route, with onward connections to Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio, Bastia and other parts of Corsica. There is no direct rail link to the airfield.

Because this is an active military site, access is restricted and visitors should confirm entry, handling and ground transport arrangements before travelling. For private and business flights, the base offers a convenient entry point to Corsica's eastern coast and the Porto-Vecchio region.
