About Silvio Pettirossi International Airport
Silvio Pettirossi International Airport is Paraguay's main international gateway, serving the capital Asunción and the wider Gran Asunción region. It handles most of the country's international and domestic air traffic and serves both leisure and business travellers.
The current passenger terminal opened in March 1980 and was renamed after pioneering Paraguayan aviator Silvio Pettirossi following the end of the Stroessner era in 1989. The airport operates from a single terminal building with two concourses, where international and domestic flights share the same airside.
Located in Luque, about 15 km northeast of downtown Asunción, the airport is reached by road. There is no rail link, so travellers continue into the city by taxi, ride-hailing services, public bus, private transfers and rental cars.
The terminal offers cafés, shops, duty-free, ATMs, Wi-Fi and lounges, making it a compact and functional gateway for visitors arriving in Paraguay.
