About Scandinavian Mountains Airport
Scandinavian Mountains Airport is the dedicated airport gateway to the Sälen ski area in Sweden and Trysil in Norway. Opened in December 2019, it was built on the site of a former small airfield near Rörbäcksnäs in Dalarna, close to the Swedish–Norwegian border, and is operated with a remotely controlled air traffic tower.
The airport primarily serves seasonal domestic and international flights bringing skiers and other visitors to the Scandinavian Mountains. Its single passenger terminal can handle up to four simultaneous arrivals and includes a restaurant, café and shop, with transfer buses, taxis and rental cars directly outside.
By road, the airport is around 10 minutes from Hundfjället, roughly 20–25 minutes from Sälen ski areas such as Högfjället and Lindvallen, and about 40 minutes from Trysil. There is no regular public transport at the airport, so most travellers pre-book shared or private transfers or arrange a rental car.
