About Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport
Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport is the main airport serving Saskatoon and the wider central and northern Saskatchewan region. The airport was first licensed in 1929 and is named after John G. Diefenbaker, Canada's 13th prime minister.
Located northwest of the city centre, the airport connects the province to major Canadian hubs and selected international destinations through airlines including WestJet, Air Canada, Porter and RiseAir. A major terminal expansion opened in April 2015, giving the single-terminal building the capacity to handle about two million passengers a year.
The terminal is organized over two levels, with departures on the upper level and arrivals on the ground floor, and offers a central security checkpoint, the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge, dining, shopping and other passenger amenities. It serves as a key gateway for domestic and international travel in Saskatchewan.
Travellers can reach the city centre and surrounding areas by Saskatoon Transit's Route 11 bus, licensed taxis, rideshare services, hotel shuttles and on-airport rental cars. The airport is about six kilometres from downtown Saskatoon, making it a convenient entry point for business and leisure visitors.
