Located about 6 km northeast of central Sampit, Sampit H. Asan Airport serves the town of Sampit and East Kotawaringin Regency in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. It is a public domestic airport and the main air gateway for the region, connecting travelers to destinations such as Jakarta, Surabaya and Semarang.
The airport's origins date back to 1960, when land was donated by H. Asan for the construction of a simple airstrip, and the airport still carries his name. It has since developed into a Class II airport managed by the Ministry of Transportation's airport unit, with a single runway and a compact passenger terminal serving domestic flights.
The terminal is located near Jalan Muchran Ali in the Baamang area, and the journey to the town centre normally takes around 10 to 15 minutes by taxi or other local transport. Onward travel options include airport taxis and rental vehicles for continuing to hotels, business areas and surrounding districts.
