About Saglek Airport

Saglek Airport is a remote airfield in the Torngat Mountains of northern Labrador, Canada. Built by the United States Air Force in 1954 as part of the Pinetree Line, it later supported RCAF Station Saglek and now provides access to a long-range radar site within the North Warning System.

The airport sits near Saglek Bay and operates with a single asphalt runway. It has no scheduled commercial airline service; most traffic is military, government, or chartered, and it serves as a landing point for visitors travelling to Torngat Mountains National Park.

Located roughly 220 km north of Nain, the nearest community, the airfield is not connected by public road. Travelers typically arrive and depart by charter aircraft, helicopter, or boat in summer.

Facilities are limited, so visitors should plan to be self-sufficient and arrange onward transport in advance. Despite its remoteness, the airport remains an important access point for the region's radar operations, research, and backcountry travel.
