About Resolute Bay Airport
Resolute Bay Airport is the main airport serving Resolute, Nunavut, and one of the northernmost airports in Canada with scheduled passenger service. Operated by the Government of Nunavut, it is a vital link for the High Arctic and the small community of Resolute on Cornwallis Island.
The airport sits approximately 4 km from the community and serves as an important refueling and logistics stop for aircraft traveling to remote High Arctic sites such as CFS Alert, Eureka and Mould Bay. It is equipped with an ILS precision landing system, which supports larger aircraft operations in challenging Arctic conditions.
Passenger services are handled in a single compact terminal building with ticket counters, seating, a gift shop and freight handling areas. The airport has a gravel runway and is connected to Resolute by a short road, with local transfers available to hotels and expedition staging points.
Canadian North provides scheduled ATR 42 turboprop service, linking Resolute with Iqaluit via Arctic Bay, while Kenn Borek Air operates local and charter flights including services to Grise Fiord. Although facilities are modest, the airport is an essential gateway for residents, researchers and travelers exploring the High Arctic.
