About Red Deer Regional Airport
Red Deer Regional Airport is a regional airport serving the City of Red Deer and the surrounding central Alberta region. Built during the Second World War as a military pilot training site, it has since developed into a modern gateway for charter, business and general aviation traffic.
Located about 8 km south of the Red Deer city centre and easily reached from Highway 2, the airport sits roughly halfway between Calgary and Edmonton in the heart of Alberta's economic corridor. In 2024 a 10,000-square-foot terminal addition opened, adding a dedicated security screening area, expanded baggage space and room to handle aircraft up to the size of a Boeing 737-800.
The single terminal is compact and easy to navigate, with departures through the northeast entrance and arrivals and baggage claim through the southeast entrance. Free on-site parking is available directly adjacent to the building.
For onward travel, the airport is connected to Red Deer and nearby communities by road, with taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services, rental cars and group transport available.
