About Ranai-Natuna Airport
Ranai-Natuna Airport is the main airport serving Ranai, the capital of Natuna Regency in Indonesia's Riau Islands province. It provides domestic connections between the Natuna archipelago and the rest of Indonesia and also functions as a military air base.
The airport's passenger terminal was expanded and reopened in October 2016 with a larger facility of about 3,868 square metres, replacing a much smaller terminal. The modern terminal can handle around 385 passengers per day, while the 2,550-metre runway supports aircraft up to the size of a Boeing 737.
Located about 2 kilometres from the centre of Ranai, the airport is easily reached by taxi, motorcycle taxi (ojek), or rented car or scooter. Public bus services are limited, so most travellers arrange a short transfer in advance.
As a compact regional gateway, the airport offers basic passenger facilities including a waiting area, small cafés and kiosks, shops, and charging points. Its position on Natuna Island makes it the key entry point for travellers continuing to the island's coastal areas and surrounding communities.
