Raja Haji Fisabilillah International Airport is the main air gateway serving Tanjungpinang, the capital of the Riau Islands province, and the wider Bintan Island area. Formerly known as Kijang Airport, it was renamed in April 2008 in honour of a national hero from the region.
The airport handles domestic routes, with Jakarta among its busiest connections, and holds international status as a gateway for regional travel. Its modern passenger terminal was inaugurated in 2013 and brings check-in, arrivals and passenger services together in a single building.
