About Pulau Panjang Airport
Pulau Panjang Airport is a small island airfield located on Pulau Panjang in the Kepulauan Seribu (Thousand Islands) regency, north of Jakarta, Indonesia. It was first opened in 1986 and was used by light aircraft such as the CASA 212 for connections to the island chain.
The airfield has a compact runway that has been reported at around 900 metres in length, with plans over the years to extend it to about 1,400 metres for larger light aircraft. Development stalled, and the airport is not currently used for regular commercial passenger services.
Pulau Panjang lies roughly 60–70 kilometres from central Jakarta, and access is mainly by sea from ports such as Muara Angke or Marina Ancol, then continuing by local boat between the islands.
Because terminal facilities are limited, the airfield serves primarily as a potential link for small aircraft rather than a full-service passenger gateway. Travelers heading to the area usually plan their sea connections and local transfers in advance.
