About Príncipe Airport
Príncipe Airport is the only airport on the island of Príncipe and serves as its main air gateway. Built in 1968, the airport connects the island's capital, Santo António, with São Tomé International Airport through regular domestic flights operated by STP Airways.
Located about 3 km north of Santo António, the airport handles domestic services and occasional private or charter flights. Its single runway was lengthened during renovations to around 1,750 metres, helping maintain reliable air links with the rest of the country.
The terminal is small and simple, with a compact check-in and waiting area, reflecting the airport's role as a domestic gateway. Most visitors continue to hotels, lodges and coastal resort areas across Príncipe by pre-arranged hotel transfers or taxis.
As a modest but important facility, Príncipe Airport makes it possible to reach the island's beaches, rainforests and plantation lodges, and to connect onward through São Tomé for international travel.
