Poum / Malabou Airport (PUV)

Poum / Malabou Airport is a small regional airfield serving the commune of Poum at the far northern tip of New Caledonia's main island, Grande Terre. Situated near Malabou on the shores of Néhoué Bay, it provides a local aviation link for a remote area that is otherwise reached mainly by road and sea.

The airport has a single grass runway of about 1,200 metres and a compact passenger building, with all flights handled through one small terminal area. Operations are focused on light aircraft and domestic connections serving the northern province.

The airfield lies roughly 8 km from Poum village and close to Malabou Beach Resort, making it a convenient entry point for visitors heading to the lagoon-side beaches of Néhoué Bay. From the airport, travellers can continue by private transfer, hire car or hotel shuttle towards Poum, Koumac and other destinations in the far north.

Facilities at the airport are basic but functional, with a waiting area, parking and limited refreshment options rather than the shops, lounges and dining choices found at larger airports. Its small size keeps arrival and departure processes simple for travellers exploring northern New Caledonia.
