About Port Said International Airport
Port Said International Airport, also known as El Gamil Airport, serves the city of Port Said at the northern entrance of the Suez Canal in Egypt. The airport is a compact regional facility located roughly 6 km west of the city centre.
The site was originally RAF El Gamil, a Royal Air Force station used during the Second World War. A modernisation programme led to a partial reopening in February 2011, and the airport continues to provide a local gateway for travellers in the Canal Zone.
The airport has a single passenger terminal with check-in, security, arrivals and basic passenger facilities. Road access connects it to central Port Said in approximately 10 to 15 minutes by taxi or private transfer.
As a small gateway, the airport offers straightforward connections to Port Said, Port Fouad and the surrounding area, with onward travel possible by taxi, private car or rental car.
