About Poplar River Airport
Poplar River Airport is a small public airport serving Poplar River, a remote First Nation community on the east side of Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba. Operated by the Government of Manitoba, it provides a vital air connection for a settlement with no year-round road access.
The airport sits adjacent to the community and operates a single runway, 10/28, measuring about 2,500 feet with a crushed rock surface. Regional and charter aircraft using this runway connect travelers with Winnipeg and other Manitoba destinations.
Because Poplar River is a fly-in community, the airport is essential for passenger travel, cargo, medical transport and supplies. Visitors typically arrive by scheduled regional flights or charter aircraft, then transfer the short distance into the settlement.
Facilities are basic and designed for northern regional operations, so travelers should confirm flight details and arrange local ground transport with their airline or accommodation in advance.
