Ouessant Airport (OUI)

Ouessant Airport is a small island airfield serving Ushant, known in French as Île d'Ouessant, in the Finistère department of Brittany. Located about 2 km east of Lampaul, the island's main settlement, it provides the quickest scheduled air link between the island and Brest on the French mainland.

The airport's commercial role centres on the short Brest–Ouessant route operated by Finistair, with a scheduled flight time of around 15 minutes. A first commercial air link between Brest-Guipavas and Ouessant was flown in July 1955, and the airfield continues to support private flights, business aviation and other light aircraft operations alongside scheduled services.

The compact terminal handles a modest number of passengers, with check-in, a small waiting area and arrivals arranged in a simple single-building layout. Because Ouessant is a car-free-friendly island destination, travellers typically continue from the airport by taxi, bicycle, on foot or with pre-arranged local transport.

For onward travel, visitors can also combine flights with ferry connections to the mainland. With its short Brest flight and location close to Lampaul, Ouessant Airport offers a practical gateway for reaching one of Brittany's most distinctive offshore islands.
