Onotoa Airport is the small domestic airport serving Onotoa Atoll, a remote atoll in the Gilbert Islands group of Kiribati. It provides the main air link between the atoll and the capital, South Tarawa, through Air Kiribati services.
The airport is located near the northern tip of Onotoa Atoll, close to the village of Tekawa, and serves a chain of villages that includes Tanaeang, Buariki, Temao, Otoae, Aiaki and Tabuarorae. Its single short runway is suited to small turboprop aircraft such as the DHC-6 Twin Otter.
Air Kiribati operates flights to Onotoa from Bonriki Airport on Tarawa, with a stop at Tabiteuea North, generally twice a week. The atoll is approximately 440–460 kilometres from Tarawa, so air travel is the only practical way for most visitors to arrive.
Ground transport on Onotoa is informal, with travellers typically arranging pickups through guesthouses, the island council or pre-booked transfers. The airport is about 3 kilometres from the nearest village, while the southern village of Tabuarorae lies roughly 14 kilometres away.
