About Oban Airport

Oban Airport is a small regional airport on Scotland's west coast, serving the town of Oban and the wider Argyll and Bute area. Operated by Argyll and Bute Council, it connects the mainland with the Inner Hebridean islands of Coll, Colonsay, Islay and Tiree through scheduled flights by Hebridean Air Services.

The site has a long aviation history, having been used as a civil airfield in the 1930s and later as RAF Connel, a Royal Air Force emergency landing ground during the Second World War. After reopening for civil flying, it was redeveloped and became a licensed commercial airport in 2008 with the start of scheduled island services.

The airport has a single runway, designated 01/19 and measuring 1,264 metres, and one compact passenger terminal building. The terminal offers a waiting lounge with views across Ardmucknish Bay, a snack bar and vending machines, car parking and meeting rooms, with a simple check-in process for departing passengers.

Located around six miles northeast of Oban near North Connel, the airport is reached by road via the A828. Local buses, taxis, private transfers and car hire link it with Oban town centre and the ferry terminal, making it a convenient starting point for travel to the islands and the wider Highlands.
