Opened in 1996, it was developed as a small domestic airport to improve access to the Pangandaran tourism area and nearby coastal communities. The airport is located in Cijulang, Pangandaran Regency, roughly 25 km west of central Pangandaran. It mainly handles domestic flights, with Susi Air operating scheduled services linking the airport to Jakarta and Bandung. The airport has a single passenger terminal and one runway. Its compact layout keeps check-in, security, baggage claim and ground transport access close together, making it relatively simple for passengers to move between arrivals and onward road transport. From the airport, travelers can continue to Pangandaran Beach, Batu Karas and other coastal destinations by taxi, private transfer, rental car or local transport via the nearby Cijulang terminal. The journey to central Pangandaran normally takes around 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic.
