About Nelson Airport
Nelson Airport is the main airport serving Nelson and the surrounding Tasman region at the top of New Zealand's South Island. The aerodrome opened at Tahunanui in 1938, and a new timber-framed terminal completed in 2019 brought modern passenger facilities to the site.
Located in Annesbrook, about 7 km south-west of central Nelson, the airport handles scheduled domestic services operated by airlines including Air New Zealand, Originair and Sounds Air. It is the key gateway for travellers visiting Nelson, Abel Tasman National Park, Golden Bay and nearby coastal areas.
The single terminal contains airline check-in areas, security screening, an indoor baggage claim and a range of dining, shopping and waiting facilities. Passengers can reach the city centre by taxi, shuttle, rideshare, rental car or the eBus service.
Free Wi-Fi, charging points, family rooms and accessibility services support a straightforward travel experience, making the airport a convenient entry point for both leisure and business travel in the Nelson Tasman region.
