About Nain Airport
Nain Airport is the air gateway to Nain, the northernmost permanent settlement in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, and lies on the shore of Unity Bay. The community is part of the Nunatsiavut region and is accessible by air or sea, making the airport an essential link for residents and visitors travelling to the North Coast of Labrador.
The existing airport has a short gravel runway and one small passenger terminal. Its gravel airstrip dates to the 1980s, and the facility is operated by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Scheduled flights are provided by Air Borealis, typically using Twin Otter aircraft, connecting Nain with Goose Bay and other North Coast communities such as Hopedale, Makkovik, Natuashish, Postville and Rigolet.
The airport sits within or immediately beside the community, about 1 km from central Nain, so ground transfers are short. There is no road connection to the rest of Labrador; onward travel is by air, coastal boat or snowmobile depending on the season.
Because it is a small remote facility, passenger services are basic but functional, with a compact terminal for check-in, arrivals and waiting. A replacement airport further from the community has been proposed, but the current Nain Airport remains the operating gateway for the area.

Terminal Overview

Terminals
Nain Airport operates a single small passenger terminal serving domestic flights within Labrador. There are no separate domestic, international or Schengen terminal zones; all scheduled Air Borealis flights use the same building.
Ground Transportation Services to and from Nain Airport
Transfers
Book a pre-arranged transfer from Nain Airport to guesthouses, lodges and other local destinations in Nain. The terminal is only about 1 km from the community centre, so most pickups are short and can be coordinated with accommodation providers.
Hourly Chauffeur
Arrange a local driver by the hour for flexible travel around Nain, community visits, events or short trips between the airport and local meeting points.
Car Rental
Self-drive car rental is very limited at Nain Airport because the community has no road connection to the rest of Labrador; most visitors arrange rides with lodges, guides or local drivers instead.
Bus & Group Transfers
Organize a local vehicle or small group shuttle for passengers travelling together between Nain Airport, accommodation, community venues and boat or snowmobile departure points.
