About Mozes Kilangin Airport
Mozes Kilangin Airport is the main airport serving Timika and the Mimika Regency in Central Papua, Indonesia. Built in mid-1969 and inaugurated in 1971, it mainly serves domestic flights connecting the region to cities such as Makassar, Jayapura, Denpasar and Jakarta.
Located about 4 km north of central Timika, the airport plays a key role for business and community travel in the area, including access for mining and related industries in the Tembagapura region. Its newer passenger terminal complex on the south side of the runway opened in stages from July 2021, while an older terminal on the north side continues to handle charter flights.
Ground transportation is available to Timika city centre and surrounding areas by taxi, private transfer, car rental and road links, with the short distance making trips relatively quick.
With ongoing terminal development and upgraded runway facilities, the airport continues to serve as an important gateway for Central Papua and the wider region.
