Motueka Airport (MZP)

Motueka Aerodrome is a small public airfield serving the town of Motueka and the wider Tasman region at the top of New Zealand's South Island. Owned and operated by Tasman District Council, it supports general aviation, flight training, scenic and skydiving operations, and limited scheduled services.

Located just outside Motueka and roughly 46 km by road from Nelson, the aerodrome is a convenient gateway to Abel Tasman National Park, Golden Bay, and the Nelson Tasman area. Its single sealed runway (02/20) is 729 metres long and 11 metres wide, suitable for smaller aircraft such as the Piper Navajo. There is no control tower, and flying is conducted under visual flight rules during daylight hours.

The aerodrome has a long local aviation history: Motueka Air began scheduled passenger flights to Wellington in 1984 and later became Air Nelson before moving its main operations to Nelson Airport. Today, businesses based at the aerodrome include Skydive Abel Tasman, Motueka Aero Club, Nelson Aviation College, Blue Sky Microlight, and Nelson Tasman Air, while Golden Bay Air operates flights to Karamea.

Although passenger facilities are modest, the aerodrome provides refuelling, hangars, and tie-down areas, together with easy road access to Motueka and onward connections to Nelson, Kaiteriteri, and the Abel Tasman coast.
