About Momote Airport
Momote Airport is the main airport serving Lorengau and Manus Province in Papua New Guinea. Located on Los Negros Island in the Admiralty Islands, it also serves neighbouring Manus Island, which is connected by a bridge.
The airfield originated during the Second World War and was later developed into a civilian airport. In 2022, a major upgrade was completed, including a new terminal, a strengthened and extended runway of about 2,010 metres, and improved power and water supply, allowing the airport to accommodate larger aircraft such as the Boeing 737-800.
Momote Airport lies roughly 18 kilometres southeast of Lorengau. Ground transportation options are limited, with travel to Lorengau and surrounding areas typically by road transport, taxis or private transfers, and journey times depend on local road conditions.
The single modern terminal offers check-in facilities, a departure lounge, a VIP lounge, a kiosk and basic passenger amenities, supporting domestic services operated mainly by Air Niugini and PNG Air to destinations such as Port Moresby, Lae and Kavieng.
