About Méribel Altiport
Méribel Altiport Robert Merloz is a mountain altiport serving the Méribel ski resort in the Savoie region of the French Alps. Located about 1.5 km north-north-east of Méribel Les Allues, it provides a direct aviation link for light aircraft and helicopter traffic arriving in the Three Valleys area.
Established in the early 1960s, the altiport became the site of the first landing in a French winter sports resort in January 1962. It was later renamed in honour of Robert Merloz, one of the founders of Air Alpes and a key figure in the development of mountain aviation in Méribel.
Unlike a commercial airport, the facility has a single paved runway, 15/33, which is 406 m long and 15 m wide, with a marked gradient and restricted daytime visual flight operations. Commercial air transport by aeroplane is limited, so most travellers arrive via nearby international airports and continue to Méribel by road or helicopter.
Ground access to the resort is straightforward by road via Moûtiers, with local shuttle buses, taxis and pre-booked transfers connecting the altiport area to Méribel centre, Les Allues and other Three Valleys destinations.
