Megève Altiport (MVV)

Megève Altiport is a small mountain airfield serving the resort of Megève and the wider Haute-Savoie area of the French Alps. Inaugurated in December 1964, it was developed during the early growth of alpine altiports and remains one of the few mountain altiports approved for mountain landings.

Situated about 7 km southeast of Megève village at an elevation of around 1,470 metres, the altiport mainly handles light aircraft, sightseeing flights, security operations and private or VIP transfers, including helicopter movements. Its short sloping runway and high-altitude setting make it a distinctive gateway for guests arriving close to the ski area.

Because it is not a commercial passenger airport, on-site services are intentionally simple. The compact building offers basic passenger facilities, and the Coucou Café restaurant with its terrace provides a place to relax beside the landing strip. The Megève flying club is also based at the site.

From the altiport, the village centre is roughly a 15-minute drive, with onward travel usually arranged by private transfer, taxi or hotel shuttle. For scheduled international flights, travellers typically use larger regional airports such as Geneva before continuing to Megève.
