Mayor Buenaventura Vivas International Airport serves Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal and the wider Táchira state in Venezuela's Andean region. The facility, completed in 1967, has long functioned as the airport for San Cristóbal and is considered the second most important airport in Táchira after Juan Vicente Gómez International Airport in San Antonio del Táchira.
Located near the town of Santo Domingo in Fernández Feo municipality, the airport sits about 37–45 km southeast of San Cristóbal along Troncal 5, the highway toward Barinas and Caracas. It handles domestic flights and is also prepared for international operations, supported by one of the longer runways in the country.
The airport operates with a single passenger terminal and shares its site with Base Aérea Buenaventura Vivas, giving it a joint civil and military role. Recent works have improved the apron, runway marking, lighting and passenger areas.
Travellers can reach the airport by taxi, private transfer, rental car or bus along Troncal 5, with San Cristóbal around 40–50 minutes away depending on road conditions. Passenger services include a VIP lounge, cafés, shops and upgraded sanitary and arrival areas.
