Mawlamyine Airport is a small public airport serving Mawlamyine, the capital of Mon State in southeastern Myanmar. It functions primarily as a domestic gateway, providing scheduled connections between the city and Yangon and supporting regional travel within Myanmar.
The airport was established in 1941 and later used as a Royal Air Force field during World War II. After Myanmar's independence in 1948, it became part of the Union of Burma Airways domestic network. In September 2013 it briefly handled international flights when a regional carrier operated a Mae Sot–Mawlamyine route, though the service ended because of runway and facility conditions.
Located about 6 km south of central Mawlamyine, the airport has a single asphalt runway and a compact terminal. The surrounding area includes the Thanlwin (Salween) River, the Gulf of Martaban coast, and attractions such as Kyaiktiyo (Golden Rock) and the town of Hpa-An.
Ground transportation is limited, so travelers generally continue into the city by taxi, pre-arranged transfer, or local vehicle. With basic passenger facilities and a short journey to the city centre, the airport serves as a convenient regional entry point for Mon State.
