Marakei Airport (MZK)

Marakei Airport is the domestic airport serving Marakei atoll in the Gilbert Islands group of Kiribati. It sits on the northern tip of the atoll, close to the main village of Rawannawi, and provides the island's main air link to the rest of the country.

The airport opened in January 1975 and handles small aircraft on a grass runway of roughly 930 metres. Most scheduled services are operated by Air Kiribati, connecting Marakei with Bonriki International Airport at Tarawa and other islands in the Gilbert group.

Tarawa lies about 88 km from Marakei by air, and flights between the two typically take around 20–30 minutes. From the airport, Rawannawi and other parts of the atoll can be reached by local vehicles or on foot, with causeways linking sections of the island.

Passenger facilities are limited and basic, so travelers are advised to confirm flight schedules in advance and bring any essential items they need.
