About Mano Dayak International Airport
Mano Dayak International Airport is the main airport serving Agadez and the surrounding Aïr and Ténéré region of northern Niger. Named after Mano Dayak, a Tuareg leader and entrepreneur, the airport has historically connected the region with domestic and international travellers visiting the Sahara.
Located immediately south of central Agadez, roughly 1 km from the city centre, the airport operates a single asphalt runway about 3,000 metres long and a modernized passenger terminal. It was renovated in 2016–2017, and the new terminal was inaugurated in 2018, with management entrusted to ASECNA in 2021.
The airport primarily handles domestic flights to Niamey and Zinder, alongside humanitarian and charter operations. Scheduled international services, once important for desert tourism, have been suspended in recent years because of regional security concerns.
Passenger facilities are modest but functional, and the short journey to the city centre can be made by taxi or pre-arranged transfer. The airport remains an important gateway for travel to the Aïr Mountains, the Ténéré desert and the historic centre of Agadez.
