Maiana Airport (MNK)

Maiana Airport is the only air gateway to Maiana, a coral atoll in the central Gilbert Islands of Kiribati. The small domestic airport provides the island's sole scheduled air connection to Bonriki International Airport on South Tarawa, the national capital, about 44 km to the north.

The airport operates with a single 930-metre runway and handles light aircraft used by Air Kiribati. Flights between Maiana and Tarawa run on a limited weekly schedule, with a typical flying time of around 15 minutes.

Because Maiana has no road link to the capital, the airport and the island's boat services, which usually take around two hours to reach Tarawa, are essential for local travel and supplies. On arrival, visitors continue to guesthouses and villages across the atoll using local transport.

Passenger facilities are modest and designed for domestic travel, so most dining, shopping and additional services are arranged in Tarawa before or after the flight. The airport remains a small but important link for residents and travelers in this remote part of the Pacific.
