About Magway Airport
Magway Airport is a small domestic airport serving the city of Magway and the wider Magway Region in central Myanmar. It provides scheduled connections between Magway and other domestic destinations, supporting travel across central and western Myanmar.
Opened in 2003, the airport operated for only a few years before scheduled service was suspended around 2006. Flights resumed in May 2019 after the Magway Regional Government requested the restoration of air services, and domestic operations continue on a limited schedule.
The airport is located roughly 6 km east of central Magway and has a single concrete runway. The site is shared with military training facilities, and the compact terminal handles check-in, security screening and arrivals for the airport's domestic flights.
Because on-site passenger services are limited, most onward travel and services are arranged in Magway itself. The city is accessible by road, and travelers typically use pre-arranged transfers, taxis or private vehicles for the short journey between the airport and the city centre.
