About Macmillan Pass Airport

Macmillan Pass Airport is a small, remote aerodrome in eastern Yukon, near the Continental Divide and the boundary with the Northwest Territories. It is located along the North Canol Road and is used mainly to support resource exploration, outfitting and tourism rather than scheduled passenger flights.

The aerodrome has a single gravel runway measuring approximately 457 m (1,500 ft) by 15 m (50 ft), at an elevation of about 1,161 m (3,810 ft). There is no terminal building and no on-site services, and the runway receives no regular maintenance, so access is typically arranged through charter or private aircraft operators.

The nearest community is Ross River, roughly 200 km away by road via the North Canol Road, which provides the main overland link through the region. Travel in and out of the area requires careful planning because fuel, supplies and services are limited or unavailable at the aerodrome itself.

Despite its basic facilities, the airport functions as an important access point for backcountry work and recreation in this remote part of the Yukon, connecting air travellers to exploration camps, hiking and outfitting areas, and the wider Canol Road corridor.
