About Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport
Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport is the main international airport serving Lyon and the surrounding Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Opened in 1975 as Lyon Satolas, it was renamed in 2000 in honour of the Lyonnais aviation pioneer and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Located around 25 km east of central Lyon in Colombier-Saugnieu, the airport provides domestic and international connections and serves both leisure and business travellers, including many visitors heading to the French Alps. It has two main passenger terminal buildings; Terminal 1 currently handles all flights while Terminal 2 is being renovated.
The airport is connected to Lyon by the Rhônexpress tram, which reaches Lyon Part-Dieu in under 30 minutes, as well as by a TGV high-speed rail station, buses, taxis, private transfers and road links. Together these options make it easy to continue to the city centre and destinations across the region.
With modern passenger facilities, shopping, dining, lounges and onward travel options, the airport functions as a major gateway for visitors arriving in France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
