Lycksele Airport is a compact regional airport serving the town of Lycksele and the wider Västerbotten and Swedish Lapland area. It acts as a local gateway, with scheduled flights linking the region to Stockholm Arlanda and onward domestic and international connections.
The airport was approved as a traffic airport in 1968 and has expanded gradually since. The runway was lengthened and widened in 2004 to around 2000 by 45 metres, and a new terminal building of about 850 square metres opened in 2006. In 2017 the airport moved to an EU certificate with reference code 4C, enabling scheduled traffic with aircraft comparable to the Boeing 737.
Located about 5 km from central Lycksele, the airport is quick to reach by taxi, Flygtaxi or rental car, and free parking is available at the terminal. The short road journey into the town centre normally takes only a few minutes.
The terminal offers a cosy café with free coffee and tea, sandwiches, snacks and drinks, free Wi-Fi and assistance for passengers with reduced mobility, making it a convenient starting point for travel across Swedish Lapland.
