About Luau Airport
Luau Airport is a small regional airport serving Luau, a border municipality in eastern Angola's Moxico region, close to the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It acts as a local gateway for the Luau area and the surrounding cross-border zone.
The modern airport complex west of Luau, also known as Luau International Airport, was opened in 2015 with a paved runway and a small passenger terminal. An older in-town airstrip, historically called Villa Teixeira de Sousa Airport, has more basic facilities.
Located a few kilometres west of Luau town, the airport is reached by local roads and sits near the Benguela Railway, which links eastern Angola with the Atlantic coast and connects to cross-border routes. Road transfers, taxis and private vehicles are the main ways to continue into town and the wider region.
Passenger infrastructure is limited, with a compact terminal and basic services, reflecting the airport's role as a regional facility. The airport is positioned to support local and cross-border travel as regular air services continue to develop.
