About London Biggin Hill Airport
London Biggin Hill Airport is a dedicated business and general aviation airport serving Greater London and the South East of England. Located in Biggin Hill in the London Borough of Bromley, it is the only airport in London focused exclusively on business aviation, handling private jets, executive charters and general aviation rather than scheduled commercial flights.
Originally opened in 1917 as a Royal Air Force communications base, the airfield later became famous as a Battle of Britain fighter station. After the Second World War it transitioned to civilian use, was taken over by Bromley Council in 1973, and has since developed into a modern business aviation hub with a passenger terminal, two full-service FBOs and extensive aircraft support facilities.
Situated about 15 miles from central London and 12 miles from Canary Wharf, the airport offers convenient road access and a dedicated helicopter shuttle service that can reach central London in around six minutes. Passengers can continue their journey by private transfer, chauffeur, taxi or rental car.
The airport supports aircraft maintenance, hangarage, catering, cleaning and ground handling, and is home to the four-star The Landing hotel. With a single runway and no runway slot requirements, London Biggin Hill Airport provides a flexible gateway for business and private travelers arriving in the capital.
