About Lethbridge Airport
Lethbridge Airport (YQL) is the principal airport serving the city of Lethbridge and the wider southern Alberta region. The site opened as Kenyon Field in June 1939 and later served as an RCAF training station during the Second World War, with the current passenger terminal opening in 1979.
Located approximately 7 km south of downtown Lethbridge, the airport is a compact regional facility that supports general aviation, charter flights, flight training and aircraft maintenance. It has long provided a connection point for southern Alberta travellers, with scheduled service to Calgary historically offering onward access to domestic and international networks.
The airport is easy to reach by road and offers access to taxis, rental cars and Lethbridge Transit, making connections to the city centre and nearby communities such as Coaldale, Taber, Fort Macleod and Raymond straightforward. It also provides a practical starting point for trips to Waterton Lakes National Park and the foothills of the Canadian Rockies.
Inside the single passenger terminal, travellers find a lounge with free Wi-Fi, a coffee bar, charging stations, vending machines and accessible washrooms, keeping the check-in, screening and boarding process simple and manageable.
