About Lasikin Airport
Lasikin Airport is the main air gateway to Simeulue Island, serving Sinabang, the regency capital of Simeulue in Aceh, Indonesia. The airport is located in Lasikin village, roughly 10 km southwest of Sinabang town, and began operating as a pioneer airstrip in December 1980.
The airport was severely damaged by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and later destroyed by the 2005 Sumatra earthquake. It was rebuilt and reopened on 1 November 2007, with an enlarged runway and a control tower to accommodate larger regional aircraft.
Today Lasikin Airport handles domestic regional flights, mainly linking Simeulue with Medan's Kuala Namu International Airport, with a typical flight time of around one hour. A single passenger terminal serves both arrivals and departures with basic facilities.
From the airport, travelers continue to Sinabang and other parts of Simeulue by local taxi, private transfer, or rental vehicle. As a small regional airport, it provides a practical connection between this remote island and mainland Sumatra.
