About Kerikeri Airport
Kerikeri Airport is a regional airport serving Kerikeri and the wider Bay of Islands in Northland, New Zealand. Also known as Bay of Islands Airport, it connects the region to Auckland through multiple daily scheduled flights, along with scenic and charter operations.
Located on Wiroa Road about 4 km from the Kerikeri town centre, the airport began as a grass airstrip in the 1930s and grew into a key gateway for Northland. A new $4.75 million terminal opened in June 2019, replacing an older facility and improving arrivals, departures and baggage handling.
Air New Zealand and Barrier Air operate scheduled services between Kerikeri and Auckland, while the airport also supports scenic flights, skydiving and light aircraft activity. Onward travel to Paihia, Russell and other Bay of Islands destinations is available by taxi, shuttle or rental car.
The compact terminal includes check-in areas, a café, lounge seating, a viewing deck, car rental counters and accessibility services, making it an easy starting point for visitors exploring the Bay of Islands.
