About Kayes Dag Dag Airport
Kayes Dag Dag Airport serves Kayes, the capital of the Kayes Region in western Mali, and acts as a gateway for both domestic and international travel in this part of the country. It is located to the northeast of the city centre, roughly 12 km away, close to the RN1 road that links Kayes with Dag Dag.
The airport was modernised between mid-2009 and the third quarter of 2011, when its runway was extended from 1,600 m to 2,700 m, the aircraft parking area was enlarged, and a new terminal building of about 2,000 m² was built. The rehabilitated airport was inaugurated in September 2011.
Today the airport supports scheduled commercial services as well as on-demand and humanitarian flights. Its single passenger terminal handles domestic and international operations, with customs and immigration facilities available for arriving and departing travellers.
The airport offers a VIP lounge, restaurants and a café, together with essential passenger services. Ground connections to Kayes are made by taxi, private transfer, chauffeur service and rental car, making onward travel into the city and the wider region relatively straightforward.
