About Juanda International Airport
Juanda International Airport is the main international airport serving Surabaya and the wider East Java region. Opened in 1964 and named after Djuanda Kartawidjaja, Indonesia's last prime minister, the airport began as a naval air base and has developed into one of the country's key domestic and international gateways.
The airport operates two passenger terminals. Terminal 1, opened in 2006, handles domestic flights, while Terminal 2, opened in February 2014, serves international flights and selected domestic operations by airlines including Garuda Indonesia and AirAsia. A single 3,000-metre runway supports the airport's flight operations.
Located in Sidoarjo Regency, roughly 20 km from central Surabaya, the airport is connected to the city by the Waru–Juanda toll road. Travelers can continue by DAMRI bus, taxi, ride-hailing service, private transfer or rental car to Surabaya and nearby destinations such as Malang and Batu.
