Inuvik Mike Zubko Airport is the main airport serving Inuvik and the Beaufort Delta region of Canada's Northwest Territories. It connects the community to Yellowknife, Norman Wells, Aklavik and other northern destinations, and supports travel, freight and community resupply across the Western Arctic.
The airport was originally constructed in the late 1950s, and its terminal building dates to 1958. The runway has since been extended to accommodate larger aircraft, and the Government of the Northwest Territories is planning a replacement terminal to improve passenger services.
Located roughly 11 km from central Inuvik, the airport is reached by road in about 10 to 15 minutes by car or taxi. The Dempster Highway connects Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk and points south, making the airport a useful starting point for travel around the Mackenzie Delta.
The compact terminal provides check-in counters, a waiting area, restrooms, vending machines and free Wi-Fi, with car rental desks and taxi access for onward travel. From the airport, visitors can reach central Inuvik, the Dempster Highway and communities such as Tuktoyaktuk.
