Inia William Tuuta Memorial Airport, also known as Chatham Islands / Tuuta Airport, is the main air gateway to the Chatham Islands, New Zealand. It provides the essential scheduled air link between the islands and mainland New Zealand, serving both residents and visitors.
Located about 20 kilometres northeast of Waitangi, the main settlement on Chatham Island, the airport handles domestic services operated by Air Chathams from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, along with short flights within the island group.
The airport operates a single passenger terminal. The original 1982 terminal building was upgraded and officially reopened in August 2026 as part of the Longer and Stronger project, which also extended the runway to 1,850 metres and improved apron, taxiway and lighting infrastructure.
There is no regular taxi or shuttle service at the airport, so visitors are advised to arrange pick-ups with their accommodation provider or book a rental vehicle in advance. On-site facilities include waiting areas, refreshments, Wi-Fi and a small aviation museum.
