About Idre Airport
Idre Airport is a small airport serving the village of Idre in Dalarna County, Sweden. Originally developed as a regional airport, it lies about 2 km northwest of central Idre and is now used mainly for private aviation, air taxi flights and general aviation traffic.
Scheduled passenger flights to Stockholm Arlanda operated between January 1994 and August 1999, but regular commercial services no longer run from the airport. The site has a 1,558 m asphalt runway, a compact terminal building, hangar space and a control tower.
The airport is convenient for the ski and mountain destinations of the Idre region, including Idre Fjäll, roughly 9 km away, and the Grövelsjön mountain area. It mainly serves private pilots and charter travellers visiting these parts of northern Dalarna.
Passenger facilities are limited but include the Skorpgården bakery and café in the former waiting hall, parking and basic passenger areas. Onward travel to Idre, Idre Fjäll, Grövelsjön and other nearby locations is usually by private transfer, taxi or rental car.
