About Halmstad Airport
Halmstad Airport is a small city airport serving Halmstad and the wider Halland region on Sweden's west coast. It provides domestic air links and seasonal charter flights, and its location close to the centre makes it a practical gateway for both business and leisure travel.
The site opened in 1944 as a military air force wing and began handling civil flights in 1958. Since 2008 it has been marketed as Halmstad City Airport. Passenger services operate from a single terminal, with short distances between parking, check-in, security and the aircraft.
The airport sits about 3.5 km northwest of central Halmstad and is reachable by local bus, taxi, private transfer and road links. This close city connection keeps onward travel to hotels and the surrounding region relatively quick and simple.
With a café, a small shop, free Wi-Fi, parking and compact passenger facilities, Halmstad Airport also works as a convenient starting point for the Halland coast, including the popular beach area of Tylösand and nearby towns such as Falkenberg and Laholm.
